Held Upright is a 13 x 19 abstract piece in gray/blue and brown acrylic paints. As always, it started with a billowy wash to set the tone, then I added the browns, and it built itself! The drip came organically which I think is amazing in the piece. I attached it to a black mat, and framed it in black.
This piece has a soft, yet striking movement to it. Your eye is automatically drawn down to the drip line and resting at the bottom of the page. The quiet restraint in this piece with the narrow vertical feels almost like a memory held between breaths.
