This painting is hushed and spacious - like a small remembered landscape held inside a large darkness. The soft green field and pale sky, framed by shadow, give it a feeling of distance, pause, and quiet companionship between between the trees. I started with the light green background, then added the darker "grassy" area, which begged for a tree line.
