Woodland Textures is a 13 x 13 acrylic abstract painting, that suggests what we are seeing isn't a literal forest, but an emotional impression of one. It feels intimate, timeless, and deeply connected to the natural world. I started with an olive green acrylic wash to set the tone for the painting. I then layered unbleached titanium acrylic paint with sand mixed in for texture, more olive green acrylic paint, and black acrylic ink weaving through the composition like winding branches, or hidden pathways, bringing contrast and vitality to the softer, organic forms. I then custom matted in black, and framed in black as well to bring out the drama in the painting.
